Day after day…they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.
Here is the message…Jesus!
He is the Christ, the Anointed One! The expected Savior of the world! Promised to Abraham and confirmed by all the prophets!
Now all the apostles are arrested and questioned about their refusal to stop preaching the Message.
How do they answer?
With the Message!
The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead—whom you had killed…God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins…
It takes courage to preach The Message to the very leaders who previously threatened you to stop talking about it. To those who have the power of life and death over you!
And all the apostles would surely have been killed, if not for the wise advice of one influential man on the counsel, Gamaliel.
Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.
Instead of the death penalty, the apostles suffer painful flogging and a final warning to stop the Message. But even this will not stop The Message… as they told their tormentors – We must obey God rather than men!
We are witnesses of these things: and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God gives to those who obey Him.
