WISE MANAGERS

Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time?

Who is a wise manager? According to the Teacher it is someone who understands He is accountable. Will ultimately answer to the one who made him a manager!

Every student of Jesus has been given talents and abilities to serve others. Been entrusted with time and opportunity to accomplish the purposes of the Teacher!

One day every student will have a Day of final accounting - It will be good for that servant whom the Master finds doing so when he returns. I tell you the truth, He will put him in charge of all his possessions.

Everyone has been entrusted with certain gifts and abilities. We are all managers on behalf of the Lord.

The question is this. Who is a wise one?

That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

  1. In this chapter, Jesus seems to spend a lot of time talking about stewardship of posessions.

The Rich fool who died because he was unwilling to share

telling the disciples not to worry, simply seek the kingdom and righteousness

Instructing to sell possessions and give to the poor.

I couldn't help but notice this parable is about a servant who is in charge of the distirbution of food.

Will he do that, or eat himself and get drunk?

We will one day give an account.

We often turn the parable of the talents to "abilities" and yes, that seems to be applicable. But do we ever look at it in regard to physical blessings and our ability to then share with the needy?

We should certainly take care of our own families.

    We should be good stewards.

But are we doing what the teacher asked in regard to helping the needy?

Are we storing for ourselves AND being rich toward God? (12:21)
