MARY

The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."

There are differing ideas about Mary. But the angel tells us God’s opinion of her – highly favored!

What a remarkable young woman she was. For out of all the girls in Israel, God chose Mary to bear the child that would be the Savior of the world. To be His mother and to raise Him!

The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.”

“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God…his kingdom will never end.”

Mary’s simple response to all these incredible, miraculous promises?

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.”

What a reply! An answer worthy of one who would become the mother of the Son of God!

And a perfect example of how to respond to the call of God for our lives today – We are the Lord’s servants, may it be to us as God has said.

  1. How often do we have that attitude abot what God wants us to do?

Are we more like Mary or Jonah? Do we want to follow God's ways or go in the opposite direction?

When we have more of Mary's faith and willingness, we can be assured that what the angel said to her will also be with us - God will be with us - and He can do amazing thigs!

(Eph 2:10, 3:20 - He has a plan for us that we couldn't imagine - if we are willing to follow Him!)
