ROCK SOLID

I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock.

Here the Carpenter is talking about quality construction. He says it begins with a rock solid foundation.

He’s not talking about house-building. He is revealing the kind of life that can weather all the storms - when a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.

How do we create such a durable life?

The Teacher says we must come to Him. Hear His words and practice them!

Isn’t this a description of the serious student of Jesus?

And isn’t the Teacher laying out the blueprint for a life that can withstand the trials and tribulations common to all? A way to endure every adversity!

Being a serious student of Jesus is digging deep. Building a life on the rock solid bedrock of His Teaching!

But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.

  1. For some reason I've been doing some reminiscing... about times when I haven't followed Jesus advise, and ... my house shook! My life was shaken by the consequences to my actions. When you think you are good enough to go out on your own, when the deceiver tells you "this is a better way to build" don't listen.

Jesus helped create life - then lived it to perfection. Following His advice will definitely be the best way.

    Build on the Rock!
