Glimpse of Glory

That’s what happened to three of Jesus’ students that day on the mountain top…

They looked over at their friend - their teacher – and saw his clothes began to glow.

They looked at his face - a face they had seen a hundred times before. Now they had to blink to catch a glint of His glory.

His face was shining as bright as the sun on a cloudless day.

Jesus told them this would happen. He said that if they denied themselves, picked up their crosses and followed him, they would not be disappointed.

Six days later they got a glimpse of glory!

Just a peek and then off the mountain and back into the valley!

In old age, Peter still remembered…

We were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to Him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well-pleased.” We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with Him on the sacred mountain.

  1. Many different thoughts from this reading:

John would write: We have sen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the father, full of grace and truth.

I can't help but think he remembered the mountain when he wrote that (John 1:14)

Peter is so real! Open mouth, insert foot - again! Gives me hope! At least comfort that I'm not the only one who doesn't always say the right thing.

HOW ON EARTH did they know who Moses and Elijah were? It's not like they had photos! But they seemd to know exactly who they were. Maybe they had those "Hello, my nale is..." name tags. Probably not - they just knew - and how cool is that!

Moses and Elijah were two OT greats! Greta men of faith and action. God let's these three know, when it comes between Moses, Elijah, and Jesus, Jesus is above them both. Jesus is the most important. Jesus, God's One and Only Son! How's that for a lesson on importance about the Teacher!?!?

Finally, they get somethig right without having a detailed explanation. The disciples seem very dense at times, but "the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist." YEAH! They finally figured one out. Please don't take me wrong, I'm not disciple bashing. Again, more like relating. How many times do I not get something right and need further explanation - so when I can figure things out - I'll rejoice!
